TSOUNGIZA  SITE  DEVELOPMENT

Excavation Unit 7 (Early Helladic II - Late Helladic I)

Here LEARNING SITES presents the chronological development of Excavation Unit 7 (EU7) using new visualizations that integrate the EU7 State Plan with excavation photographs of the pertinent features from each period.  Please note that, due to variations in the time of day, degree of sun or shade, and camera lens, some of the wall-top textures had to be color-corrected to produce a coherent whole (within each period plan).  The pits look so dark, because the photographs of them were usually taken at an angle and the pits are so deep that rarely did sunlight penetrate more than a few centimeters below the rim.

The material for and archaeological interpretation of this portion of the site have been provided by James C. Wright, Bryn Mawr College.
