(bottom and front of slab showing various cuttings;
drawing probably by Richard Sobolewski)
|
Lower part of relief slab showing a bare-foot person wearing a long tunic with fringes and facing toward the right. The figure could be a courtier, and possibly carries a quiver and sword.
An unknown object (perhaps part of a tent) is seen behind the figure.
The bottom edge is original; the left edge seems sawn.
It is possible that this fragment fits a presumed lost relief depicted as a drawing in Barnett & Falkner (1962, pl.20; see the image at the left). Thanks to Julian Reade for pointing out this relationship.

Bas-relief slab corner (?) fragment with bits of 3 registers. The upper register appears to be blank, or at least is unintelligable; the middle register is blank, presumably for an inscription; and the lower register depicts parts of two horses moving left (to the left is the lower half of a rear leg and a tail and to the upper right is a horse head). |
