Pottery


Unless otherwise indicated, the following pieces of pottery from the 1975 excavations were found on the pavement in square N50/E10, along the wall in the southern part of Room 5 (of the so-called Ashur-nasir-pal Building; labeled DP on the plan to the right; hover cursor over plan to zoom). The pottery seemed to have been placed in groups according to their shape. They are all Late Assyrian (most likely 7th century BCE and thus not contemporary with the main period of use for this building). About 300 vessels were uncovered.

The pottery listed here (and the descriptions) come from the 1975 preliminary field report.

They are grouped here alphabetically by type.
